The Undergraduate Pathways in Science and Engineering provide students with additional support to enable them to better deal with the demands of their degree studies. These Pathways ensure that students have the necessary knowledge and skills to succeed in the undergraduate degree of their choice.

In 2011 the University of Hertfordshire was ranked in the top 25 UK universities for Engineering (The Times Good University Guide) and 9th in the UK for Physics (The Guardian).
The School of Engineering and Technology’s automotive and mechanical engineering degrees provide the first step for students looking to gain Chartered Engineer status. The University also has a strong track record of providing the aerospace industry with highly skilled aeronautical engineers and courses.
Rapid technological advances have shaped the School’s courses in digital systems, digital communications and electrical, electronic and computer engineering. Studies in computer engineering particularly focus on hardware and software design using highly sophisticated techniques.
Degree courses in the School of Physics, Astronomy and Mathematics are accredited by the Institute of Mathematics and its Applications (IMA), the Institute of Analysts and Programmers (AIP) and the Institute of Physics (IOP). The School’s Bayfordbury Observatory is widely regarded as the best in the country and is attached to one of the UK’s largest astronomy research groups.
